I grew up on a farm with lots of animals. We had cows, pigs, chickens, and cats and dogs aplenty, but we never had a horse. I don’t even remember asking for one. I was never the little girl who begged for a pony. But, now that I live on my own acreage, I keep finding myself wanting a horse. In our neck of the woods nearly every farm has at least two and I’m beginning to feel a bit left out. Lucky for me, the neighbors don’t mind me fawning over theirs.
These three boys were such beautiful subjects and didn’t seem to notice me spending over an hour crawling along the fence and laying in the grass to photograph them from various angles. In the process, I discovered that I love photographing horses. They are majestic, spirited, and beautiful creatures.
